Entry Level Opportunities
Learn about technology’s relevance to and impact upon many aspects of Lowe’s business, including Customer Service, Operations, Merchandising, Logistics, and Distribution. Participate in a three-month training program at the Lowe’s Support Center handling calls from the 1,025+ Lowe’s store locations. Benefit from training in programming languages, JCL, data modeling tools, and Lowe’s development methodology. Apply your learnings to challenging assignments with project teams in Business Solutions, Solutions Delivery, IT Engineering or IT Operations, upon successful completion of the entry level program.

Solutions Delivery
Design, develop, enhance, maintain, and implement effective business applications for Lowe’s, using applications in our Client / Server, UNIX, Z-Series mainframe, and web-based environments. Use your strong analytical skills, and solid technical background to identify detailed user requirements, select appropriate solutions, prepare cost estimates, and serve as the focal point for technical solutions for our end-users. Work closely with Solutions Delivery team members to analyze Lowe’s data requirements and maintain corporate data models and standards.

Information Technology Strategy
Ensure that the IT organization proactively participates in the overall strategy and planning process for the corporation. Facilitate the effective operation of the IT organization, and guide practices and techniques within IT to maximize its value to the Company. Specific opportunities and duties include:
Information Security - implementing processes, practices and techniques to secure Lowe’s computing and environments; and working closely with other areas of IT and our user community to identify and address areas of risk. Positions in this area include Information Security Administrators, Analysts and Project Managers.
IT Strategy & Planning - managing the overall IT Portfolio (IT Planning Analysts); guiding the evolution of Lowe’s technology architecture (IT Architecture Analysts); and facilitating research of emerging technologies (IT Research Analysts).
IT Consulting & Quality - providing in-house consulting to other areas of IT on project management techniques, and developing/implementing ‘best practices’ across all areas of IT. |

Business Solutions
Support all areas of Lowe’s business including Store Operations, Sales, Merchandising, Logistics, Distribution, Marketing, Finance, Administration, and Human Resources. Partner with these areas to keep application development projects aligned with the needs of the business. Some opportunities and duties include:
Solution Analysts - providing design, analysis, and critical business knowledge to application development project teams.
Decision Support Analysts - maintaining the Lowe’s Information Warehouse and providing services surrounding Lowe’s web-based business intelligence tools to the end-user community.
Solutions Project Management – working closely with business area management and other IT organizations, managing portions of solutions portfolio and maintaining both business knowledge and relationships to properly manage IT alignment to the business. |

IT Operations
IT Operations executes IT service delivery functions and acts as the custodian of Lowe’s production IT environment. IT Operations is responsible for the continuous round-the-clock running and administration of Lowe’s information technology infrastructure. IT Operations departments include Computer Operations which is responsible for our two Corporate Data Centers and the Operations Command Center; the IT Support Center which provides Level I support and break/fix maintenance for all Lowe’s stores and corporate users; Distribution Center IT Operations which is responsible for IT service delivery across the distributed Lowe’s supply chain network; Technology Deployment Services which handles procurement, staging, configuration, deployment, and installation of Lowe’s IT hardware assets, IT Production Services which provides centralized financial and asset management and operational management process controls, and the Disaster Recover Program Office which ensures business continuity through an ongoing business impact analysis (BIA) and recovery planning process. |

IT Engineering
With over 1,500 stores and 17 Distribution Centers and offices located throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Asia. IT Engineering personnel are responsible for architecting, engineering and supporting the technology infrastructure that serves all of Lowe’s computing needs This includes all voice and data LAN/WAN and satellite communications, z-Series, CICS, MQ-Series, Teradata, relational data base platforms, UNIX, Websphere, Data Storage, Windows 2000/2003/XP technologies. The scope of responsibility includes our primary and recovery data centers, stores, distribution facilities, field locations, and remote computing by field staff. Responsible for the infrastructure components such as MS Exchange and OWA, Active Directory, Enterprise Spam and Anti Virus protection and Citrix. |
